WHO WE ARE

Founded by the Rev. Pastor Jean Monnier Balaine Jean-Francois in 1974, Ecole Didascalee has educated more than 10,000 children. Under Pastor Monnier's leadership, the school thrived as an educational option for families without much means and as a community resource to learn practical trades. Through Haiti's turbulent times, the school has been a steadfast presence in the town of Saint Michel de l'Attalaye and prided itself on its values of literacy, education and service to others.

To carry forward what Pastor Monnier started, his family is sharing this hidden gem in Saint Michel de L'Attalaye through the Didascalee Project, a non-profit organization registered in New York State. Our hope is that generous supporters like you will keep the school open for another 45 years.

Our mission is to empower families in Saint Michel to pursue more vibrant, prosperous lives.

Our vision is to be the local go-to resource for youngsters seeking a better life.

WHAT WE DO

Educate and Inspire.

We run two main programs to benefit the town of Saint Michel and surrounding village: a K-8 elementary school and a food bank that provides a hot meal to each child. We are also affiliated with local vocational programs for skilled trades, such as home economics and arts and crafts.

Your support will keep the subsidized tuition at a lower cost for families and increase the number and meals provided to each child. More importantly, it will keep Ecole Didascalee open for families who do not have another choice.

ABOUT US >

We are a K-5 elementary school in Haiti's lush northwestern region. Our modest program is often the only opportunity for local families to give their children a chance at a better life. Won't you support them?
